Designing the Next Generation of Data Systems for Real-Time Analytics

Digital disrupters have embraced real-time analytics, ingraining into their applications seamless experiences from tracking online delivery orders to surfacing relevant articles and news to personalizing website experiences. The first generation of data applications was conceived by the FAANGs who hired large data teams to custom build and maintain data infrastructure. The next age of digital disrupters will be able to deliver real-time analytics without a massive data engineering lift thanks to the advent of the cloud and low operations solutions. In this talk, Dhruba Borthakur, Co-founder and CTO of Rockset, and one of the founding engineers of Hadoop and RocksDB, delves into cloud systems that are shepherding in a new wave of real-time analytics that’s easy to use and quick to adopt.

Dhruba will talk about the technical requirements of cutting-edge systems including the ability to handle high-velocity streaming data from event streams and constantly changing data from database CDC. Join the talk and learn the attributes of the systems behind the next wave of digital disrupters including the ability to handle bursty data, complex analytics, and have flexible schemas.

Speakers

Dhruba Borthakur is the CTO and co-founder of Rockset. He was an engineer on the database team at Facebook, where he was the founding engineer of the RocksDB data store. Earlier at Yahoo, he was one of the founding engineers of the Hadoop Distributed File System.
